Mrs. Nance

I am extremely excited to be a classroom teacher this year at Edgemere Elementary School!  Thanks for coming to check out my page to learn more about me.

This year, Mrs. Beam and I are partners.  This means we swap homerooms and I teach all our students their English Language Arts and Health curriculums.  I love to read, and I really enjoy supporting student to become better readers.  I know may students do not like to read, therefore it is my personal goal to determine each students' interest to increase their love for reading.  I want to work diligently with parents to help their child become a better reader!  I strive to maintain a structured, high-expectations environment to promote student growth all year long.

This is my third year of teaching at Edgemere Elementary School.  I have been a Special Education teacher at Edgemere before becoming a classroom teacher.  I have earned a dual certification Bachelor's degree from Towson University in Elementary Education and Special Education.  I have started taking course work through BCPS which has laid the groundwork for my Master's degree.  A teacher is never done growing just like their students!

I am married and have one son.  Our family loves to spend time outdoors.  Between camping, hiking, and kayaking, we try to stay very busy throughout the year.  I have two furry children, Ace and Harlee.  They are both Huskies and I love to share their silliness with my students.  Like stated before, I love to read.  I especially like to read mysteries and stories with suspense.

My mother was a Special Education teacher for 17 years.  I have spent many years in her classrooms as well as several years as a ParaEducator.  I have a true passion to work with children to promote life-long learners.
