Have you ever viewed web pages where the text is jumbled, images are blurry, or everything just looks out of place?  This can be due to many issues related to web creation software, Internet text size, screen resolution, laptop screen ratios, and more.  This site, along with many others should appear fine in most settings but there are a few things you should be aware of and some steps you can take to help with these problems.  The first thing to try is to check the View menu and go to Text Size and select Medium.  This shows the web page in its native font size and can restore overlapping text and frames.  The medium text size is usually the default on most web browsers.

If problems persist the next thing to look at is the screen resolution.  This is simply the width and height of the screen, measured in pixels.  Unless you are on a laptop, most web pages view best on either 800 x 600 pixels or 1024 x 768.  The higher the numbers, the wider the screen, but this can be misleading.  It's like zooming out on a camera.  You can see a wider area, but everything is smaller.  The easiest way to change these settings is to right click on the desktop and choose Properties and click on the Settings tab.  You can then change the screen resolution and click ok.  You may get a message asking to save the settings.  You should choose yes to see how this will look and then can change it back in the same manner.

The final step to try, especially on newer laptops is to decrease the display DPI.  These laptops try to compensate for wide screen viewing  by increasing the DPI so that certain text and images appear larger.  The problem is that this often makes text pixilated and images can appear blurry.  To change this setting you merely click on the Advanced tab on the Display Settings window from above.  It should already be on the General tab and you then can change the DPI setting in the drop down menu to Normal size (96 DPI) For this change to take effect you will usually be asked to restart your machine.  Hopefully these tips will enable you to maximize your Internet viewing experience.  Good luck!
