The content subjects provide opportunities for students to take the
skills they have acquired and use them to learn more about themselves
and the world around them.
Science,
social
studies, and
health
are three such areas. These subjects are taught at different times
throughout the year, usually during the same 30 minute block of time.
An emphasis on science is currently taking place at Edgemere Elementary. While class time is still divided between all of the areas, some exciting things are happening in the science program. We have a science/technology lab that houses 30 new Dell computers and various science equipment and instruments. This lab also supports a WeatherBug® weather station that sends real time data to the Internet and abc2news. We've even had visits from meteorologist Justin Berk and broadcasts on the morning news!
